Breast implants and mammogram

Women who undergo breast implants need regular follow up with their physicians to ensure that the devices are working as designed. Women with breast implants should not undergo mammograms as the risk of rupture is real. MRI is the preferred method to investigate women with implants. There are some radiologists who say that rupture of implants is rare with current day technology and skill of the technician.

Just remember an MRI is 3-4 times more costly than a conventional mammogram. If you do undergo a conventional mammogram and your implant ruptures, you can always sue the facility and the doctor for negligence.
