What is Bipolar 1?

In the last few years, bipolar disorder has been divided into a few subtypes. Each subtype has different pattern of symptoms. Bipolar 1 disorder is the most severe type. The mood swings tend to be intense and can lead to difficulty in interpersonal relationships, problems at work and having difficulty in school. 

The manic episodes in bipolar disorder 1 are often intense and can be dangerous. During the manic phase one may lose total control and do risky things like getting pregnant, having sex with multiple partners (unprotected, of course), spend all the money, play with traffic on a busy street and muck around with dangerous with weapons.
