Yoga and weight loss

Can yoga help me lose weight? I am 33-year-old female

Yoga is a great for relaxation and stress relief. It can even help improve joint flexibility and improve posture. However, yoga is not a very physically demanding form of exercise and you are unlikely to burn the number of calories that you need to lose weight.

To lose weight, you need to do some type of physical exercise. Yoga is not a bad idea but I think it has been exaggerated in terms of its medical and health benefits. While yoga will help you maintain achieve great flexibility, good health, and mental stability, I doubt you can lose a lot of weight- unless you combine it with a low calorie diet.

My best advice for weight loss is - walk. It is free, has no complications unless you walk on ice and allows you to enjoy nature. An hour’s walk will get rid of about 200- 300 calories. At this rate you can lose nearly one pound a week if you remain motivated.
