How
much zinc can I take on a daily basis?
The
recommended daily allowance for zinc in men is about 11 mg and about 8 mg for
women. Any higher than 30-40 mg/day is associated with adverse reactions.
Because zinc is not stored in the body, daily consumption is required. I should
tell you that zinc deficiency is very rare. The majority of people derive zinc
from their diet and there is ZERO need to take supplements. Unfortunately, we live in a world where some people tend to rigidly believe in popping supplements and a lot of other crap to maintain good health. Many of these people would greatly benefit from a psychiatric exam. In North America, there is no reason to take minerals or vitamins as long as you eat a healthy diet. In our society, we have a problem with excess intake of food and mineral deficiencies are unheard off.
