Omega 3 fatty acids for bipolar disorder

I have had bipolar disorder for many years and nothing seems to work for long periods. Is there any evidence that omega 3 fatty acids may help?

Bipolar disorder is one of the most difficult mental disorders to treat. It creates havoc in the individual and in everyone around him or her. There are only a few drugs that help this disorder but because of side effects many people stop taking them. Now people have been looking to health supplements as a cure for bipolar disorder.

In the last 20 years, a lot has been written about omega 3 fatty acids and it seems that almost every disease underneath the sun has at one time been claimed to be cured by this substance. As far as bipolar disorder is concerned, a review of randomized trials reveals that omega 3 fatty acids are just hype and nothing more- meaning they do jack shit. The only people who still advocate omega 3 fatty acids are people who sell it. The only positive thing of note was that there were no side effects demonstrated in the studies.
